Humble yourselves [...] that he [...] may exalt you, casting about him all your worries because he cares for you. -1 Peter 5: 6-7
Reading: 1 Peter 5: 5-9The Bible in a year: Exodus 7-8; Matthew 15: 1-20
In 19 century the ships were often overloaded recklessly, resulting in sinking and crews lost at sea. To remedy this negligent practice, in 1875 the British politician Samuel Plimsoll coordinated the request for legislation to create a line next to the ship to indicate whether the ship was carrying excess load. This load line became known as the Plimsoll mark, and continues to set the hulls of ships to date.Sometimes, like those ships, our lives may seem overwhelmed by fears, struggles and sorrows. We can even feel the danger of a shipwreck. In these times, however, it is comforting to remember that we have an extraordinary resource. We have a heavenly Father and ready to help us carry that load. The apostle Peter said: "Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he, in a timely manner may exalt you, casting about him all your worries because he cares for you" (1 Peter 5: 6,7). He is able to deal with the concerns that weigh us down.Although the tests of life may seem too heavy burdens to load, we can be completely sure that our heavenly Father loves us deeply and know our load limit. Is what we face, He will help us to endure.
